Katya has been practicing and teaching yoga for 21 years. She began her yoga practice at the Sivananda Ashram in Quebec, Canada, in the summer of 1991. Since that time, she has studied with a number of fantastic teachers in the West, including Richard Freeman, Baron Baptiste, Sri Dharma Mittra, Patricia Waldon, and Rodney Yee. Her main practice is now power and ashtanga yoga.
Between 2003 and 2006, Katya travelled to Thailand and Nepal, where she practiced ashtanga vinyasa yoga.
In addition to yoga, Katya practices meditation. She has studied a number of meditation and advanced pranayama (breathing) techniques and completed training in the Buddhist Vipassana meditation technique in Myanmar.
